Good Game

A rookie pitcher took the hill with a hat so frayed
The ball jumped to the plate, an instant impression he made
He poked and punched pitches, such power conveyed
He kept striking saliently, no longer subject to trade
Out after out, beleaguered and baffled batters he laid

Good game adulations applauded him as hands swayed
Back in the clubhouse, on his knees he prayed
He started the shower thankful for success, flowing water sprayed
He departed diligently, wishing forever he could have stayed
Day after day, we’ll remember the last game he played

Parting points: Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of Nick Adenhart after yesterday‘s tragedy.
