The Final Set

Making the most of what you have
Is an idea embraced near and far
Give it your all and give it your best
Don’t ever settle for even par

But when you’ve finally had enough
When life pulls and tugs and tears you down
You feel tired, threadbare and tattered tough
Take it to the court for the feeling of last

There in the eternal lifelong sport
Where nimble hands meet harmless nets
For an altruistic love of play
You’ll find yourself with few regrets

Ageless is the face of fear
Attacking us from everywhere
We hear the questions in our ear
What will we become in our final set
